Last night me, the spouse and a friend took to the “Al Sura in Black” event at a local hotel. Al Sura is a non-profit organization that addresses the epidemic HIV/AIDS rate in DC and promotes awareness of the disease. This was an event primarily attended by people in the LGBTQ community, and baby, let me tell you, the people there were fabulous! I have not been around that much fabulosity in a while, and it definitely let me know I need to step my game up! Anywho, I was happy that this was an all-black event, because that is my color choice for going out. I know, I know, colors surround us, but I am an all-black girl at heart, and I never truly feel dressed up unless I’m in all black.
My dilemma was to find something that I could wear first to one of my best friend’s house for a small get-together, then still wear to the Al Sura event. So below are pics of what I wore. The jacket is one that I bought from Macy’s two years ago, from their I.N.C collection in a size Large. The jacket is a ponte knit, so it stretches well. The dress is also from Macy’s. I love the asymmetrical hemline of the dress and because it has short sleeves, I can take this into the spring/summer. It is a size 2X, but I wish I would have gotten a 1X because it is too big in certain places, but nothing that a belt can’t fix. The necklace is a thrift store find that I was honestly very scared to bring home. I feel in my heart that the charms/symbols are representative of something sinister, but I said a couple chants over it, and I’m at peace. It was too cute to leave and it was only $2.50! And my trusted boots- my Vera Wang Lavender boots I purchased from Nordstrom over 2 years ago. I have had them a while, but this year I am in love with these boots! I had originally planned to change into a high heeled knee boot when I left my friend’s house, but decided against it. I love my boots with this look…
