Yesterday, I had the pleasure of being a vendor at the Yours/Mine Secondhand Shopping Soiree event in DC. Again, I was able to bring many vintage plus size clothing to curvy ladies. I am so enjoying taking something that was a passion of mine, and parlaying that into a side biz. Of course, being able to profit from a hobby is great, but as I tell everyone, it is so much more than that. The feeling that I get when I see a curvy women able to shop aside their skinny friends is so gratifying. For years, I would go to shopping events with my friends, and I was always relegated to jewelry, and handbags because there were almost always no clothing options in my size. And what was even more surprising, many of the vendors at these events were plus size women! So, when I am able to tell a woman, “come on sis, all my finds are strictly for plus size women,” I see that glimmer of surprise and of satisfaction that they, too, matter. That is enough for me…
